She had been slowly dropping tracks from the album over the past few months, including «Crooked», «Got Away» and «Love Me Loud». The singles provided a taste of the full album, which simultaneously feels like punch in the gut and a mouthful of cotton candy.
Speaking on the new album, Kady writes to me: «I wanted to create an album where every song individually could hold up to the next and tell its own story while also being part of a cohesive whole. There are songs from different genres and songs from different eras in my life and different writing processes included in the album».
Rain continues: «There are songs about being in a relationship with a narcissist and leaving a toxic relationship at the beginning of the album, there’s a bunch of love songs in the middle, there’s a couple breakup songs at the end, and of course I had to throw in a song about being in the LGBTQ+ community too because I’ve never said explicitly in a song that I’m gay and I wanted to finally release a song announcing it to the world!»
