Irish singer-songwriter has just announced the release of his highly anticipated new single,«Something Strange». The track is set to captivate audiences today, following the success of his summer single, «Everything You Wanted»,which garnered over 60,000 streams on Spotify and achieved an impressive 500 playlist placements.
«Something Strange» serves as O’Connor’s final composition for his forthcoming album, which he describes as «the missing puzzle piece». Co-written by O’Connor and produced by his long-time collaborator Gareth Shortland, the song encapsulates a moment of enlightenment experienced by the artist during a trip to Barcelona last summer. Reflecting on the inspiration behind the lyrics, he shared, «I don’t know if it was the sun, the sea, or something else, but in that moment I felt an inner sense that I was right where I was supposed to be». This sentiment vividly permeates the track.
The lush synths and crystalline vocals in ‘Something Strange’ introduce listeners to a sophisticated blend of synth pop. As O’Connor highlighted, the song is like ‘a wave of contentment,’ drawing listeners into a melodic escape. Fans can look forward to more than just the single; an elaborate 6-minute extended mix and an emotionally-charged acoustic version produced by Jordan Arteaga will follow in the coming weeks. Additionally, an engaging music video directed by Kapture Lab is set to enhance the overall experience.
