Christine Sako Feels «Seasoned» After Relationship Trials – New Pop Synth Single

Indie synth pop artist Christine Sako unveiled a fresh chapter of her music career with her new single «Seasoned».

Written and recorded by Sako, the single is about the early stages of a relationship when one can feel the urge to give a large portion of themself to their partner while the other person still has their guard up. «It is about willingness and patience and wanting nothing more than for the other person to feel comfortable and eventually arrive on the same page», says Sako.

As many dating people know, the trials of getting to know someone new can get repetitive and begin to feel like clockwork. The cyclical nature of this process can lead to the death of the relationship, or in some cases, push the couple to a new level of understanding and enlightened romance. Rather than abandoning the relationship feeling tired and defeated, Sako is using the single to explain how a person can actually grow from the challenging experience and become «Seasoned» rather than weathered.

«I can wait the season out this time», she sings as she explains her newfound strategy for helping her partner through their initial apprehension. By seeing the situation as a phase rather than a permanent trait, Sako is able to find the light at the end of the tunnel. Known for peeling back the layers of everyday problems and human experiences, Sako is a master at uncovering the depths of life while keeping her music captivating and one-of-a-kind. Layered with gorgeous harmonies and bright instruments, «Seasoned» showcases Sako’s strong writing and overall musical imaginativeness.

Born and raised in Minneapolis, Christine Sako made the ~2,000 mile trek to San Diego, CA in 2012 with the 1 instrument that made the downsizing cut for the westward move: her guitar. After settling into the sunshine and rebuilding her instrument collection, Christine started writing and recording for her first full-length album. Released in 2014, The Math Project brought about a poppier, synth-based side of what had traditionally been a more acoustic and melancholy genre.

After hearing Avril Lavigne‘s «Complicated» in 2002, Christine knew she had to take a stab at being a bad-ass, guitar-wielding songwriter. Initially weary of judgement, Christine would record her songs and send them to friends on AIM claiming she had «just found this tune online» … just to get objective feedback. When the feedback was positive, she knew she had to run with it.

In 2009 she got a rare opportunity to tour with an up-and-coming band, Now, Now. After opening for bands such as Paramore and Paper Route, Christine returned to the University of Minnesota after calling it quits with the band. After readjusting to academic life, she finally got her Mathematics degree and 3 months later she was off to California.

Now settled as ever in quarantine and back at the songwriting helm, Christine has new music for anyone with open ears. With distinct vocals and beat driven melodies, she aims to take the listener on a journey through all the emotions. From car bopping to melancholic, each song peels back at the layers we all share, making for a relatable, easy-listening experience.
