Reid Zakos brings «Danger» into your life

«Danger» is a dark, seductive, mid-tempo pop ballad from Reid Zakos, with backing vocals by co-writers Matias Taylor and Tess Anderson.

The openly queer lyrics describe being intensely drawn to someone you know is no good for you. With a striking combo of bright synths, trap-influenced drums, and electric guitar, infatuation and dread collide in a sky-high earworm chorus where the decision to heed the warning signs or succumb to desire hangs in the balance.

The song was co-written with Matias Taylor, who Reid met at a songwriting workshop sponsored by SOCAN and Live Acts Canada. The workshop was mentored by Vancouver artists and producers such as Louise Burns, Kevvy from Fake Shark, and Kristina Lao. Reid and Matias bonded over their mutual love for artists like Madonna, George Michael, Lady Gaga and more, and knew they had to write together. The lyrics and chord progression were crafted by the two in 2019 but then passed over to Vancouver rising Indie Pop star Tess Anderson who helped produce, arrange, and even lend her backing vocals to the final version.

«Danger» is Reid’s first single release of 2022 and shows a new maturity to his songwriting and artistry, flirting with new vocal styles such as R&B, owning his vocal prowess while showing even more lyrical vulnerability than on his previous dancepop singles.
