Kim Chuah and his «Joyride» to the LGBTQ Music Chart

Kim Chuah releases his first single «Joyride» as a trans man.

The singer, songwriter, producer’s new journey starts with this Pop jam, wrapped in a cool, slick, queer and bubble gum packaging.

Kim was previously signed under a management company based in Atlanta, USA with his music partner A_TARI, which saw them pitch to Rihanna’s, Christina Aguilera’s, Eminem’s, 50 cent’s, Ludacris’, The Saturdays’, Rita Ora’s and B.O.B’s labels. This culminated in writing for a Ludacris and MIA project .

The now out and proud, experienced songwriter, spent most of his early 20s hiding his sexuality and identity, for fear of rejection in the music industry. After taking a hiatus from music, he moved to London from a small town in the north of England. Kim is now studying at University of Westminster where he is currently working on his first EP as a transgender man. His influences derive from pop, synth pop, funk, r&b, pop rock and rock music. Some key influencers are, Justin Timberlake, Haim, Carly Rae Jepson, Timbaland, Pharrell Williams, Quincy Jones, Fleetwood Mac.

«It’s been a confusing and long journey to get to this point but I am excited to be a voice and to represent my community. I never grew up with that kind of representation in music, so it’s something I want to be part of, no matter the age or stage in life, I just want others to be able to see that we exist and we can be pop artists, or any artist for that matter, it is completely possible to break down the heteronormative and homogeneous music industry» – Kim Chuah.

All Proceeds will go towards Kim’s future transitioning treatments. Due waiting times for consultations through the NHS, Kim is having to seek help elsewhere.
