In 2024, Marie Ulven Ringheim, known by her stage name Girl in Red, showcased impressive financial performance amidst her extensive world tour. With costs totaling approximately 77 million Norwegian kroner (about 6.5 million euros*), the artist navigated a challenging landscape but emerged with solid profits, emphasising her business acumen alongside her musical talent, Norwegian newspaper VG reports.
Girl in Red reported a remarkable income of 61.5 million Norwegian kroner (approximately 5.2 million euros*). After accounting for costs, which stood at 31.6 million Norwegian kroner (around 2.7 million euros*), the company recorded a pre-tax profit of 30.5 million Norwegian kroner (nearly 2.6 million euros*). The balance sheets highlighted that Marie Ulven’s company experienced a striking equity increase of 13 million Norwegian kroner (about 1.1 million euros*), showcasing not just growth in artistic presence but also in financial stability.
Despite the costs associated with her ambitious 70-concert world tour following her second album, Girl in Red remained committed to her independent artistic journey. In her words to the Norwegian newspaper VG,«It’s really fun that a song I created independently has resonated so much». Her success story inspires aspiring musicians globally, demonstrating that with dedication and unique artistic vision, achieving significant milestones is indeed possible without the backing of a major record label.
