West Pride’s New Anthem Has Arrived — And Tone Sekelius Is Owning the Moment
Tone Sekelius releases «Girls & Dolls», the official West Pride anthem — a high‑energy electronic pop tribute to girls and trans girls. The Swedish star delivers her most personal songwriting yet, celebrating visibility, pride and self‑expression.
Tone Sekelius is turning up the volume on Pride season with the release of «Girls & Dolls», the official anthem for West Pride — and it’s already shaping up to be one of the year’s most powerful LGBTQ celebrations. The Swedish artist, songwriter and influencer, who has amassed more than 268,000 followers across social media, delivers a high‑energy electronic pop track built for summer festivals, dance floors and Pride stages across the country.
«Girls & Dolls» is a glitter‑soaked tribute to girls everywhere, with a special spotlight on trans girls. With its message of visibility, strength and unapologetic self‑expression, the track arrives at a time when trans voices are needed more than ever. Tone says she wanted to create a song that feels like a party from the very first beat while still carrying a message that matters — a celebration of taking up space and embracing who you are without compromise.
The single marks a major milestone in Tone’s artistic journey. For the first time, she has taken the lead on both lyrics and melody for one of her own releases, crafting the song alongside Adrian Björklund and Grace Ejderflykt. She describes the track as deeply personal and a defining moment in her evolution as a songwriter, bringing her closer than ever to the music she wants to make.
West Pride’s Executive Director, Agnes Rudbo, says the festival couldn’t have chosen a better artist for this year’s anthem. With trans rights under constant attack, she believes Tone’s voice — and this song — arrive at exactly the right moment. «Girls & Dolls» is not only a celebration but a bold response to the ignorance and hostility faced by trans people both online and in public spaces.
Tone Sekelius has become one of Sweden’s most influential cultural figures in recent years. She made history as the first openly transgender person to compete solo in Melodifestivalen, winning the hearts of the nation with her entry «My Way». She later proved her versatility by taking home the title in Sweden’s MasterChef VIP 2024, cementing her status as a multi‑talented star.
Extravagance, humour and a fearless all‑in attitude have become Tone’s trademark — and that spirit pulses through every second of «Girls & Dolls». The track blends celebration, confidence and community with a message of pride and visibility, capturing exactly what Pride season is meant to feel like: joyful, defiant and utterly unforgettable.
