Shobsy Finally Releases the Ballad That Cut Too Deep, New EP «The World Will Not Remember» Is Out Now
Recorded between Berlin and Dublin, the four-track EP channels George Michael, Bowie and The Weeknd and closes with the stripped-back ballad he spent years deciding whether to release.
Irish pop star Shobsy drops new EP «The World Will Not Remember», featuring «Perfect», the raw ballad he almost never released. Remaining Irish tour dates inside.
After a whirlwind couple of years that have taken him from U.S stages to European festivals, rising Irish pop artist Shobsy has dropped his new EP «The World Will Not Remember» and buried at the end is the track he nearly kept locked away forever.
«Perfect», the record’s only ballad, is a raw farewell to a long-lost love. «At the time of writing it felt too close to the bone», he admits. «Over time friends have convinced me to release it. It’s a warm goodbye to someone I’ve loved for a long time. It’s a raising of a glass to them as life and paths shift».
Stripped back to let his voice shine, it’s powerful, moving and emotionally raw, proof of both his vocal range and his songwriting chops.
Recorded across Berlin and Dublin, the genre-hopping four-track EP channels the spirit of George Michael, David Bowie and The Weeknd, moving fluidly from synth-pop and soul into R&B. Opener «OH!» oozes seductive soul groove, while the big pop moments arrive with «Silver Line Livin’» and «Royalty».
Documenting the last six months of his life, it’s deeply personal stuff, yet the title arrives with a self-deprecating grin. «The loves, the losses, the successes and failures, all seem to eventually fade in a fast-moving world», he says, an invitation to make whatever, whenever, in awe of the fact that nobody’s watching.
Signed to SO Recordings, home to Placebo and Big Special, with an international publishing deal through Pangea Music Publishing, partnered with Sony Music Publishing, Shobsy has sold out Whelan’s, The National Concert Hall and The Academy, stormed SXSW, Electric Picnic and Beyond The Pale, and performed alongside Dermot Kennedy at a special Irish music showcase hosted by the President of Ireland at his Dublin residence.
Radio can’t get enough either: «Dance Or Cry» hit No.4 on the Irish Radio Breakers Chart with heavy RTÉ Radio 1 airplay, while «Silver Line Livin’» and «Royalty» both landed Track of the Week on Today FM and 2fm.
With a captivating, grounded stage presence, live is where he’s most at home and five Irish dates remain before Christmas.
