Produced by Gareth Shortland (Steps, Erasure, Will Young), with vocal production by Richey McCourt (Aimée, Erica Cody), the track is reminiscent of ‘00s dance acts Moloko and Chicane.
«Separate Ways» follows hot-on-the-heels of my most successful single to date, the infectiously catchy «One Way Ticket», which landed on over 50 Spotify playlists and passed 25,000 streams on the streaming outlet.
The track is taken from my critically-acclaimed EP «Severance», which was released in October and hailed «a pop masterpiece” by RGM magazine, while Retro Pop said «’Severance’ showcases his superb songwriting and sees him finally find his sound».
«One Way Ticket» became my eighth consecutive Top 5 hit on the LGBTQ Music Chart, peaking at number 3, and was praised by music critics, with «Find No Enemy» calling the track «a furiously upbeat and radiantly optimistic delightful pop anthem».
Remixes of «Separate Ways» will follow on January 27 and February 3. The Garage Remix allowed me to slow things down and reference the ‘00s UK garage sound that Robert loved growing up, while the Fletz Remix offers a more contemporary EDM take.
Watch the first performance of the track at my «Severance Live» show in Dublin, exclusively on YouTube.
