Zoe Briskey releases New Single «Better Than Ur Boyfriend»

«Better Than Ur Boyfriend» is the first single off of Zoe Briskey’s upcoming EP «Ultra Desire», a concept album about the desire inside that drives all of us.

«Better Than Ur Boyfriend» is a queer pop punk song about being in love with someone who is in a relationship with a toxic boyfriend. Layered with early-2000s guitar licks and backed by a new synthetic sound, «Better Than Ur Boyfriend» elicits names like blink-182 and Machine Gun Kelly, except this time, these words are being sung by a queer female artist.

Hailing from New York City, Zoe Briskey is one of the most exhilarating electronic-pop artists of this generation. Musically, she synthesizes mainstream pop punk with an experimental electronic touch. Her clever and caring nature can be felt through her lyrics, which center around queer love and the discovery and empowerment of oneself. Self built, self funded, and entirely self produced, she is intoxicating to be around, unabashed in who she is, and unafraid to be herself, both in life and in music.

On «Better Than Ur Boyfriend», Zoe says: «I wrote this song about a girl I started dating who was getting out of a relationship with this guy who was terrible to her. One day, I asked her what her favorite flower was and she said she didn’t know because she had never been given flowers. After she left, I wrote this song and got her flowers the next day».
