The joy that bursts through when we discover our home in others, whether romantic or platonic, is the focus of Acid Wave’s new album «heart2heart», which will be released on 5 May, 2023. The Texas-based five-piece describes themselves as «bestiesAcid Wave who are continuously inspired by one another, and it’s on «heart2heart» that Acid Wave demonstrates what can happen when you surround yourself with people you truly trust.
«Love Trauma» (2020), the band’s previous record, presented a sonic world filled with delicate textures, ethereal vocal melodies, and chill, driving percussion. With its honeyed refrain and sauntering riffs framed by the band’s noted dream-pop tendencies, 2022 single «Blueberry Blonde» hinted towards brighter arrangements. «Heart2heart» finds Acid Wave expanding on their laid-back approach, but with a brighter outlook. «With this album, I wanted to go for a different tone», says drummer/vocalist and songwriter Audrey Villalobos. «Because it’s a love letter, I wanted more emotion in the songs».
«heart2heart» is an open and vulnerable ode to past, present, and potential future love. When we peel back the mask of what we believe others want and instead embrace what we truly need, we are our most open and brave selves. Acid Wave are a band bent on authenticity, adorning their thoughtful lyricism with ear-worm arrangements and dream-pop sensibility.
«heart2heart» released on 5 May, 2023 and while you wait you can listen to their previously released music below.
