Swedish pop star Oscar Zia rang in the New Year with a bang, dropped his brand‑new single «Vi som är natten» («We are the night») just as the clock struck midnight. A surprise gift for fans and a bold teaser of what he’s gearing up for in 2026, the track dives head‑first into the chaos, thrill and heartbreak of being hopelessly – and, as he puts it, idiotically – in love.
The song captures that all‑too‑relatable pull towards someone you know is no good for you, yet you keep running back anyway. Speaking about the inspiration behind the track, Oscar doesn’t hold back.
«’Vi som är natten’ is about a period in my life when there was a lot of partying, little sleep and it was all the fault of a guy who dragged me out. We only existed at night, and I did nothing but be with him. Even though this was a while ago, I still get the same feelings of nostalgia, a little anxiety and shame. At the same time, I miss being idiotically in love…»
The single continues the sonic shift Oscar introduced with his recent release «Underbar», but this time he leans even further into a raw, organic sound. Most of the instruments are recorded live, giving the track a warm, imperfect, romantic edge that feels both intimate and cinematic. It’s a direction that suits him – and one he’s clearly ready to explore more deeply.
«Vi som är natten» («We are the night») also sets the tone for what fans can expect in 2026. More music is on the way, and Oscar hints that he’s not done unpacking the messy, magnetic pull of loving the wrong person.
«The music will continue to be about the love of what is not good for you. Unfortunately, I haven’t gotten that good at finding the ‘right’ person yet…»
With a new year, a new single and a new chapter ahead, Oscar Zia is stepping into 2026 with honesty, vulnerability and a sound that’s more him than ever. Fans should buckle up – the night is clearly just getting started.
