The official launch this month includes showcases FAM (F*ggot Ass Music) at The Stonewall Inn (3/17), «Just The Tips» at The Rosemont (3/26) and BAIT, sponsored by Bear World Magazine, at Rockbar (3/31).
Helmed by executive producer and recording artist Jack Tracy, these recurring monthly events are intended to create opportunities for creators of original music to find paid performance opportunities in the thriving NYC-nightlife scene.
Tickets for FAM are now available here. Tickets for Just The Tips and BAIT will be available soon. Join the Necessary Outlet mailing list to be alerted of the on-sale dates.
«Today, the LGBTQIA+ nightlife circuit seems heavily drag focused», Jack explained his desire to launch this new lineup of monthly events. «And don’t get me wrong, I love drag, but it is finally time for singer/songwriters to get their own shine in NYC nightlife. In my experience these performers have been consistently relegated to tip spots and the occasional Pride event–but now it’s time for them to take some spotlight for themselves».
This is not Necessary Outlet’s first foray into live events, having produced POP OFF! for Dixon Place’s HOT! Festival in August 2021, as well as two prior FAM parties at Club Cumming. Buoyed by the success of those events, March 2022 sees the launch of three flagship events as part of Necessary Outlet’s agenda to create a circuit of monthly music showcases throughout NYC.
Each party also has a different theme and concept. FAM, a concert now at its new home at the iconic Stonewall Inn, is an evening of “for us, by us” queer music, featuring a rotating cast of headliners and also welcomes any original singer/songwriter in the audience for a pop-up performance. «If you’ve got a song, a dream and backing track…come thru FAM»,Jack explains. The recurring monthly event returns March 17th, with DJ Chauncey Dandridge spinning music exclusively created by LGBTQIA+ artists between performances of original music by Jack Tracy, Kenny Supreme, JR Price, Mel Lennon and scheduled pop-ups from Adam Sarette, Dakota Rebelle and DeShawn Jenkins. Tickets are available now.
«Just The Tips», hosted the last Saturday of the month starting March 26th at The Rosemont in Brooklyn, is a full on dance party, sprinkled with pop-up performances. At March’s Just The Tips, catch performances from Jack, Danielle Cardona, Kenny Supreme and R0zeGld. BAIT, on the other hand, is a raunchy showcase specifically marketed to the bear community and its supporters. Co-produced by Bryce Quartz and sponsored by Bear World Magazine, the monthly event will be hosted at Rockbar in Chelsea on the last Thursday of each month starting March 31st. Expect a to-be-announced lineup of bears and bear bait performing sexually charged music.
