Adelphi Lads Club In Salford Opens With An Exciting Music Line-Up This Weekend

By News Room24/06/2022 Article 661 Views

The Adelphi Lads Club, Salford’s historic landmark, has reopened its doors for a summer of eclectic programming with a line up reflecting the cities it borders with a plethora of big names, local heroes and DIY culture.

Situated on North George street, the bar and kitchen has confirmed an exciting weekend with High Hoops hosting a free day event this Saturday, 25th June 2022, with leading LGBTQ+ artists from the region.

The High Hoops – Marcos Navarro and Robbie Bloomer – have been championing inclusiveness for all races, genders, nationalities and sexualities on one dance floor with their diverse, underground music for more than six years.

Doors open at 2PM and other acts throughout the day include Aletha, Kiss Me Again and Acidhousedeathsquad with the party continuing til’ late.

At The Adelphi Lads Club the weekend begins on Thursday, opening at 5PM, as Reform Radio start their weekly residency offering the Cities brightest talented Radio DJ’s and Club collectives. This week see Good Custard and Mica (UK) take to the decks.

With the fine weather set to continue the bar will open on Sunday from 2 PM with a takeover by Mas O Menos – a record label born to encourage a cultural and musical exchange between the UK and South-Africa – seeing the weekend out in style.

This weekend is just the beginning of an exciting summer programme where The Adelphi Lads Club will play host to all-day parties from the largest regional promoters and underground chilled sets from globally recognised DJ’s. In the coming weeks expect performances from acts such as DRS & Friends, Helen K, Lil’ Minx, Metrodome, Out of the Quiet, Atiké, Meme Gold and Veba.

The venue is the perfect space to enjoy the Mancunian summer, with a sun drenched green oasis benefitting from all day sunshine and an outdoor DJ booth. Inspired by the Middle Eastern and Mediterranean, the Adelphi Garden’s blue walls and foliage create the perfect backdrop for the programmed entertainment with a bedouin inspired tent to seek shade and shelter from Manchester‘s famously changeable weather.

The interior pays homage to the Adelphi Lads Club of old; industrial and raw with original exposed brickwork and floor tiles. The custom concrete bar is offset by the repurposed leather seating salvaged from venues around the UK.

The Adelphi Lads Club kitchen, which will see a series of different traders and BBQ offerings throughout the summer, will launch on June 30th with Talk To Me Pizza offering their authentic Italian pizza with a twist. Founded by a bunch of scruffy haired lads residing in South Manchester, Talk To Me Pizza has taken Manchester by storm with sites in Northern Quarter and Withington.

The Adelphi Lads Club was formed in 1888 by 23-year-old teacher Walter Southern, as a means to keep impoverished kids off the street and out of trouble. It quickly became the centre of the community before closing its doors in 2008.
