Scott claimed that he wrote this song after receiving conversion comments about his sexuality on social media. He heard messages suggesting that God is disgusted with his life choices, but it is not too late to make amends. Scott is a firm believer in «love is love» and the acceptance of other lifestyles.

The phrase «you’re going straight to hell for their crimes» is improper and insulting. Scott says in «Afterlife» that if his life choices are so horrible that he deserves to go to hell for the life he leads, then you deserve to sit right next to him.

Being openly gay hasn’t been smooth sailing for Scott, even now there are views from other people that cause unnecessary pain as they believe their views are the only way it should be.

Scott doesn’t take these accounts too personally as he is happy in his life and the choices he has made, but others who receive these sorts of things may take it personally especially if they are still trying to understand themselves and who they are.

Scott Berry has never been ashamed of his sexuality or who he is, despite going through some difficult periods in his life, including becoming the target of hate crimes as an adult.Scott began recording music with the intention of sharing his experiences with personal grief and the hatred he has experienced for being «Different», as they say. Scott has been creating songs since he was a teenager as a form of catharsis for the pain he has endured or caused himself by believing what others have told him. During the Covid-19 Pandemic, he decided that enough was enough, and thus rekindled his interest in music.

Scott’s music has received brilliant response from listeners, and this has only contributed to him wanting to create more and share with the world, to help others through tough times and make them feel good and realise that life is worth living to the fullest and not to let anything or anyone stop you doing what you love to do.
