The video exclusively premiered on V Magazine – read the full piece here. The song is taken from Cub Sport’s self-titled album that was released in January through the groups own label, Cub Sport Records, and features fellow Australian musician + friend of the band Mallrat. Drawing inspiration from their favourite 2000s celebs, «Video» is a gender-defying visual masterpiece, equal parts beautiful and edgy, and cements Cub Sport as a cornerstone in the future of pop culture.
The band toured the UK earlier this year including a sold out show at London’s O’Meara. Having recently wrapped up a U.S. tour Cub Sport return to the UK in October for a string of dates including their biggest ever UK show at The Scala, London on October 17. Tickets on sale now.
Lead singer Tim Nelson: «The «Video» video is an ode to some of my favourite 2000s celebs who rose from an invasion of privacy and built entire empires out of it. I drew inspiration from these icons for both the concept and styling of the clip. For me, Video represents a moment of taking back my power and believing in myself. It’s about celebrating my growth and all the good things that have come along with that; allowing myself to exist outside of other people’s expectations or judgement. I wanted the video to amplify that feeling of empowerment and strength in owning who you are. It was a dream come true to make this video with one of my favourite artists and people ever, Mallrat (aka Grace Shaw). We worked with queer dream-team Kurt Johnson and Tim Hardy and created something truly unique and beautiful».
Cub Sport and Mallrad’s «Video» was added as a newcomer on LGBTQ Music Chart last Sunday and if you want it to enter the chart – give it a vote here.
