MKSM aka Maksim was born in Russia. After spending almost three years in London he recently moved to Berlin.
MKSM’s success was crowned in 2018 with the LGBTQ Music Award in the categories «Newcomer of the Year» and «Song of the Year» for his pride anthem «Original Self – Enough is Enough». The song also reached the 14th spot on the LGBT Music Charts.
His talent as a singer, songwriter and violinist was also recognised by Wolfgang Stach and Franz-Wieland Filtz, hit producers of German artists such as Bosse, Jupiter Jones, Guano Apes and Akua Naru. Together, they are currently working on MKSM’s debut EP (Release: Summer 2020). He wrote the songs in collaboration with the British songwriter Nicholas Alexander Cox and Franz-Wieland Filtz in London and Cologne.
«Tipsy In Love» is the first single release from the upcoming EP and was released in June 2019. With this song MKSM went on a big pride tour across Germany . He stopped in Munich, Trier, Hamburg and Nuremberg, among others. The song was awarded with bronze at the LGBTQ Music Awards 2020.
With «Sirens» , MKSM continues where he left off with «Tipsy In Love». Merging string and vocal melodies combined with urban beats – creating a unique sound with a message: The song describes an escape – a liberation from outdated social norms – We Hear The Sirens Calling – Flashing Lights Fading From Our Systems – while following your own path – Let’s Stay Away From This Beaten Track.
In 2019, MKSM continued supporting the LGBTQ community: for the Project 100% MENSCH‘ and the campaign ZEIG SIE AN! he wrote the pride song «Say Something» – accompanied by many other queer artists (including Flinte, Daniel Schuhmacher) and many more.
MKSM also released his first Christmas song in 2019! «Chosen Family» – the first queer Christmas song made in Germany. The timeless Christmas song draws attention to people who are still socially discriminated against for their sexual identity. On December 24th the song reached number 30 on the iTunes POP charts.
«Sirens» are one of the challengers on to this week’s LGBTQ Music Chart – if you want it in vote here.
