EBU examines lyrics in Israel’s Eurovision song – may be too political

Israeli media reported on Thursday that the country's Eurovision entry, «October Rain», is at risk of disqualification due to its perceived political lyrics.

The final three lines of the song, primarily in English, transition to Hebrew, depicting the plight of Israeli citizens at that moment: «No air to breathe / No space, no me from day to day», israelhayom.com reports.

The song, whose title clearly refers to the October 7 massacre, is set to be performed by Eden Golan, the winner of The Next Star competition jpost.com reports. It was written by Avi Ohion, Keren Peles, and Stav Beger.

According to jpost.com, the Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation, Kan, clarified that Israel had no intention of changing the lyrics.

The EBU’s window to do the right thing is wide open, and they can use the excuse that it’s too political too save face!
